“Literature gives us a unique medium for exploring the human condition: we can place ourselves in different cultural and historical contexts through the poetry, novels, and stories. When mixed with performance, we literally can step into one another’s footsteps and gain first-person perspective. Walking in one another’s footsteps – for a brief time or at length – opens us up to gain wisdom, understanding, and a greater sense of what it means to be human.”
